GREG SUPPORTS SOLAR ENERGY PROJECT AT HEATHFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL
21.01.14 for immediate release: Heathfield MP, Greg Barker, put his full support behind the Solar Schools Project at All Saints and St Richards CE Primary School in Old Heathfield when he visited the school last Friday.
Greg was also joined by Huw Merriman, the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bexhill and Battle.
The nationwide Solar Schools project is putting clean energy in classrooms all over the country. Schools set a fundraising target for their very own solar roof, then everyone chips in to help make it happen. All Saints and St Richards is the only primary school in the whole East Sussex and Kent to have been selected for the Solar School project.
The project is a chance for pupils, parents, local businesses, former students and everyone else to do something good for their school, their community, and the whole world.
The project is being led by Emma Gower, Chair of Governors with the support of fellow governors, staff and parents who recognise that this is a great opportunity for the school to save money on energy which can be better directed into teaching and learning resources.
Speaking at the school, Greg said “The Solar Schools Project is a terrific initiative and deserves everyone’s support. It will slash the school’s energy bill, put more money in the classroom and be good for the environment.”
Huw Merriman added “In addition to pledging support to the team with their solar project, I was given a fantastic introduction by the pupils, teachers and governors who care so much about the future of their school.”
Emma Gower, Chair of Governors commented “We are really excited to be part of this project. The school is celebrating the 150 year anniversary of the original building and putting solar panels on our roof for our future is a great way to do this.”
