GREG PRAISES BEXHILL HIGH VOCATIONAL CENTRE
Bexhill MP, Greg Barker, enjoyed a personal guided tour of the Hamilton Centre with Executive Principal, Mike Conn and Chair of Governors, Cllr Brian Kentfield when he visited the school last Monday.
On Greg’s first visit to Bexhill High’s vocational centre he enjoyed a coffee in Hamilton’s Bistro and then met some of the students who were learning catering skills. His tour included a visit to the professional hairdressing salon and the hairdressing classrooms. Greg then called into the construction, woodwork and engineering rooms where he observed students busy at work putting theory into practice in bricklaying and metal engineering classes using the skills they have learnt.
Speaking at the Centre, Greg said “The Hamilton Skills Centre is going from strength to strength and I was very impressed with both the dedication of staff and enthusiasm of pupils.
Not every local young person will want to go on to University and for too long we’ve ignored their needs. Modern skills and workplace experience are essential to gain employment and have fulfilling careers. I’m looking forward to my next visit.”
