Greg called into Windmill Drive Post Office last Friday to present Jonathan and Sarah Armstrong with a certificate following their nomination to the Parliamentary Best Small Shops Award.
Greg was joined by local Rother District Councillor Paul Lendon who, with Councillor Bridget George, worked hard to ensure the future of the Post Office on Windmill Drive. Although the shop was not a winner in the recent competition, Mr and Mrs Armstrong were pleased to have been nominated by Greg in recognition of their support and service to the local community.
Mr and Mrs Armstrong they have built up a strong relationship with their customers and are always happy to make the time for a friendly chat or help out where we can. They also often deliver groceries to customers who find it difficult to get out.
The Armstrongs are also very actively involved with sending troop parcels to Afghanistan. They have a few collection points around town and then pack welfare parcels for the troops and send them off. To date they have sent 1810 parcels. The response from the troops has been tremendous.
Speaking in Bexhill, Greg said “Jonathan and Sarah Armstrong are rightly popular in their corner of Bexhill for the way in which they transformed their local shop and Post Office into the community hub. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them; by nominating them for this Parliamentary award I wanted to demonstrate how much they are appreciated by the local community they serve.”
