"Proud of my Community"
Conservative Councillor gets involved with worthwhile community project.
Our Chairman, Wealden District Councillor Pam Doodes organised a Community litter pick in Hooe on Saturday 4th March. She was delighted with the support she received from Hooe residents who turned out in large numbers. They spread across the whole of the Parish and in no time at all collected a vast amount of litter., as shown in the photographs.
So what was picked up? Large numbers of soft drink cans and bottles, glass and plastic and other take away food paraphernalia. Bits of cars - tyres, body panels, exhausts. Teddy bears, scarves, a gas cylinder, a video recorder, a 15 litre plastic chemical container and more - you get the picture!
By far the most worrying finds were the huge number of empty half bottles of vodka and gin, beer and wine bottles - all discarded in identifiable places. Obviously some motorists park up, drink their half bottle then drive off through the lanes of Hooe putting other motorists and residents at risk.
Pam said "a huge vote of thanks to all the Hooe volunteers. Every village should have a great bunch of Community minded people like Hooe"
