Calling all job seekers and aspiring entrepreneurs! Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair
11.04.2016 For immediate release:
Bexhill is proud to announce it will be launching the first ever Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships fair on Friday 29th April 2016.
The event will take place at the De La Warr Pavilion between 10am and 3pm with a large number of leading local businesses keen to take part.
More than just a careers advice session, the event will provide a chance for those attending to seek out real job opportunities. Every participating employer and organisation will have something to offer from full and part-time jobs, apprenticeships, internships, work experience, training schemes as well as advice on job-seeking and interview skills.
In addition, the NatWest Business School, a converted double-decker bus, will be parked up outside the DLWP providing advice and information on how to go about starting up your own business.
“We’re delighted to be involved with the Bexhill Jobs & Apprentices Fair. Traditionally, young people came to NatWest as graduates and while we still want to encourage that route, we have benefitted greatly from the hundreds of apprentices who have joined the bank since we launched our apprenticeship scheme last year. They have brought with them a fresh perspective and together with their dynamism and enthusiasm, they have really made a huge contribution to our business.”
NatWest is committed to supporting the South East’s budding entrepreneurs and SMEs. In addition to finding out more about the bank’s apprenticeship and graduate schemes from the Early Careers team, visitors to the NatWest Mobile Business School who are looking to start up their own business will be able to speak with specialists from the bank’s business banking team as well as Coutts. Further advice on setting up in business will be available from the Lets Do Business Group and the Federation of Small Business inside the venue.
Some of the local companies attending the Jobs Fair include Torr Scientific, Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors and Hastings Direct. They spoke about why they are involved in this event:
Ian McGlashan, Commerial Office Manager, Torr Scientific said: “Torr Scientific is pleased to support this event because skilled and talented people need to feel that they can use their skills and forge the career-path they desire here in Bexhill, rather than having to relocate. Local people are often unaware that high-tech scientific and engineering companies such as Torr Scientific are manufacturing in this area and so bringing employers and job-seekers together is very valuable. We are also a keen advocate of the apprenticeships system and welcome the opportunity to meet and discuss the benefits with potentially interested candidates.”
David Getty, Managing Partner, Gaby Hardwicke said: “Gaby Hardwicke Solicitors is supporting the Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair as a major East Sussex employer committed to the training and development of our staff. We employ around 170 people across our four sites in Bexhill, Hastings and Eastbourne, many of whom are being supported by us in attaining legal qualifications. We enabled 10 members of staff to become Residential Conveyancing paralegals, and 5 to become Court of Protection paralegals. We regularly sponsor members of the firm to begin or continue studies with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers. Each year we offer two training contracts to graduates hoping to qualify as solicitors, in some cases providing financial support for the Legal Practice Course, the final academic stage in qualifying as a solicitor. We are available to discuss the range of legal careers available with us, and particularly to advise anyone who is thinking of becoming a solicitor or who has already started working towards this goal.”
A spokesperson for Hastings Direct commented: “‘As part of the Bexhill community for nearly 20 years, Hastings Direct were keen to support the Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair and become a legacy sponsor. We have a wide variety of career and apprenticeships opportunities available and are looking forward to attending the fair.”
The Jobs Fair will be open to all, with many young attendants expected after Bexhill College students were visited by event organisers MP Huw Merriman, De La Warr Pavilion Chief Executive Stewart Drew and Bexhill Chamber of Commerce President Martin Riley. They gave students a taste of what to expect from the jobs fair.
The Bexhill Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair promises to be a worthwhile event offering an insight to the diverse range of job and career opportunities available in the local area.
