Chief Inspector Botting explained to Greg how Operation Blitz, a recent initiative to deal with anti-social behaviour, is building trust and confidence with local communities and allows officers to respond promptly to residents’ concerns.
Speaking in Bexhill, Greg said “I don’t want to be complacent but this is a very encouraging development. The fact that crime has come down so sharply in the last twelve months is very good news for everyone in our area.
I am particularly impressed that our police have been able to deliver this at a time when the force has been making difficult cuts in budget along with other areas and the public sector.
However, Sussex Police are clearly showing that you can make efficiency savings and significant cuts in back office costs and still maintain a very effective uniformed frontline presence.
They have performed extremely well at a difficult time and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them
