30.01.11 For immediate release: Bexhill and Battle MP, Greg Barker, has called a roundtable meeting for local businesses, voluntary groups and local people to spell out the ambitious plans for the rollout of the Local Broadband Plan on Friday 2 March at 10am at the Heathfield Community Centre. Guest speaker will be Cllr Keith Glazier, Deputy Leader of ESCC.
Speaking in Heathfield, Greg said “I am determined that the Bexhill and Battle constituency will be at the forefront of the broadband revolution so I am delighted that Cllr Peter Jones has agreed to be guest speaker at the Business Broadband Roundtable meeting that I have organised for the Heathfield area. I know how important quick and reliable broadband is, especially to small and medium-sized enterprises. I hope that this roundtable will be a great opportunity for local businesses to find out more about the Local Broadband Plan and to ask the questions important to local firms.”
At the East Sussex Town and Parish Council Broadband Conference hosted by East Sussex County Council last December, attendees were told that local businesses and individuals, especially those in rural areas, need to work closely with their parish and town councillors to ensure superfast broadband comes to their area. The Business Broadband Roundtable will be therefore be an ideal opportunity for local businesses to learn more about how they get involved in this process and get access to superfast broadband as quickly as possible.
The meeting is open to all local businesses and voluntary organisations but places are limited and need to be booked in advance. Please contact Frances McKenna at the Constituency Office on 01424 734910 or [email protected] to secure a place.
