GREG CONGRATULATES LOCAL LONDON OLYMPIC AMBASSADOR
18.7.12 For immediate release: Greg wished local Olympics volunteer, Malcolm Gates, good luck in his role as a London Ambassador when they met in the constituency this week ahead of the arrival of the Olympic torch in the town.
Battle resident, Malcolm, who is also Honorary Treasurer of the Bexhill and Battle Conservative Association, is one of 8,300 successful applicants out of the 33,000 who originally applied to volunteer during the London Olympics.
Malcolm has been appointed to the special “Flying Squad” of London Ambassadors who will move from site to site helping visitors to the Games, depending on where there are issues arising. The role involves helping visitors to keep London moving at Games time and perpetuate a good time atmosphere. Additionally, Malcolm may be asked to help with other tasks including taking photos that will help towards building a library of video and photos to contribute towards an historical compendium of the 2012 Games.
Greg has also been appointed a Government Olympic Ambassador for the Games and will be greeting visiting dignitaries and represent Government at various sporting events and on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government.
