BUILDING ON PROGRESS AT BEXHILL HIGH
14.10.13 for immediate release: Bexhill MP, Greg Barker, met Bexhill High’s Interim Principal Andy Mortimer and Head of School, Darren Gelder at the school last Friday to find out how the school is progressing this term under new leadership.
Bexhill High school had a poor Ofsted report last April and was placed in special measures. School inspectors demanded that urgent improvements were put in place to ensure students made better progress and achieved better results.
Speaking at the school Greg said “I am pleased to hear that both Mr Mortimer and Mr Gelder are fully focussed on ensuring that high quality teaching and learning are at the centre of Bexhill High’s school improvement plan.
“I impressed upon the new school leadership team the importance of quick results and was reassured that they have grasped the challenge. We will now all be eagerly watching to see the results of their efforts to drive the school out of special measures.
“I know that the students at Bexhill High are well-behaved, keen to learn and full of energy and creativity. They deserve the best possible education. We mustn’t let them down.”
