GREG SUPPORTS “KEEP TRADE LOCAL” IN BATTLE
28.10.13 for immediate release: Greg joined Lord Brett McLean, President of the East Sussex Federation of Small Business on Battle High Street last week to promote the “Keep Trade Local” campaign.
The Federation of Small Businesses Keep Trade Local campaign is about supporting the small businesses on our high streets that generate wealth, employment and opportunity.
The tourist industry is very important to Battle which is the centre of 1066 Country and the FSB want to encourage the industry to buy local. Many local shops and restaurants pride themselves on sourcing high quality local produce which visitors love but there is room for more to do so.
The campaign is also about encouraging local consumers to think small first, when you set off to the shops or when you want to employ a service or visit a cafe. The greengrocer and the butcher, they are not always more expensive than the supermarket, and they offer a personalised service that you seldom can get in a big supermarket.
Speaking in Battle Greg said “This is a great campaign by the Federation of Small Businesses. I love to shop locally when I am in the constituency as I know I am getting great quality goods and fantastic service. I would encourage everyone to visit their local high street shops to make sure our local high streets remain the heart of our communities.”
Lord Brett McLean said “The FSB is grateful for Mr Barker’s help in promoting such a vital campaign educating consumers and tradespeople to buy local. The message is clear use it or lose it!"
