GREG CELEBRATES SOLAR PANEL SUCCESS IN BECKLEY
04.02.14 for immediate release: Local MP and Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, Greg Barker, visited the home of Mr and Mrs Markson-Brown in Beckley last Friday to welcome the news that 500,000 British homes have now installed solar panels to generate their own electricity and sell any excess power to energy firms.
Mr & Mrs Markson-Brown have recently installed more solar panels on their property in Beckley and are keen supporters of renewable energy.
Speaking in Beckley Greg said “It was wonderful to meet Mr and Mrs Markson-Brown who are personally committed to sustainable energy but also recognise the personal financial benefits this can bring.
“Installing solar panels is a really attractive financial proposition. Prices for domestic solar panels have fallen sharply in recent years and you get a guaranteed feed-in tariff for 20 years. If your panel is well-sited it could yield a return of 8 per cent or more. For people who feared that they missed out on attractive rates for solar back in 2011, thanks to our reforms and the falling costs of this exciting technology, I have a very simple message: “Solar is back!”
