GREG URGES RESIDENTS TO HAVE THEIR SAY IN LOCAL NHS MATERNITY AND CHILDRENS’ SERVICES
17.02.14 for immediate release: Local MP, Greg Barker, is urging local residents to take part in the local NHS ‘Better Beginnings’ consultation on maternity, in-patient paediatric and emergency gynaecology services to ensure that their voices are heard.
The local Clinical Commissioning Groups in East Sussex are currently consulting on six options for providing these services across three hospital sites - Eastbourne DGH, Conquest in Hastings and the Crowborough Birthing Centre.
Following an independent review of these services last year, the CCGs have decided on six options which they believe will provide the highest standards of safety and quality of care for local people. They are now consulting widely on these and have organised a series of public meetings.
Greg said “It is really important that local people get involved in this consultation which will shape the future of health care for local women, babies and children. We need to ensure that the configuration of these services reflects the views and needs of local people and provides the safest and highest quality care that we expect from the NHS.”
The public consultation runs until 8 April. Residents can take part in the consultation, find out about local community events and further information at www.betterbeginnings-nhs.net, Or by telephoning 01273 403563, by email [email protected] or by writing to Better Beginnings, East Sussex CCGs, FREEPOST SEA2474, BN8 2ZZ.
