GREG GETS THE SCENT OF FAIRTRADE IN BEXHILL
11.03.14 for immediate release: Bexhill MP, Greg Barker, celebrated the second week of Fairtrade Fortnight with a visit to local Bexhill business “Visionary Soap” where he was joined by the Bexhill Fairtrade Committee.
Visionary Soap is the UK’s leading fair trade body care company whose whole range carries the FAIRTRADE Mark. The company has been entirely dedicated to fair trade since the business’ inception in May 2005 and works with more Fairtrade producer groups than anyone else in the industry. Their products consist of an organic body care range handcrafted in the UK and abroad using ingredients from producers in Palestine, India, Burkina Faso, Nicaragua, The Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa.
Company founder, Monica Norley, creates soaps and body care products for national and international customers including prestigious shops such as Fortnum and Masons from her modest manufacturing unit which she rents from local charity and social enterprise HFS in London Road, Bexhill.
Speaking in Bexhill, Greg said “Bexhill is one of Britain’s leading Fairtrade towns. As well as relying on retailers to stock a wide range of consumer goods I am very proud that a number of our local businesses such as Visionary Soap are putting Fairtrade products at the centre of their business plan.
I was impressed to see that from such an unassuming business unit tucked away in the heart of Bexhill, Monica creates a wonderful range of soaps and body care products using Fairtrade ingredients for customers world-wide. I really commend her commitment to Fairtrade and the use of quality natural ingredients in all her products. Not only does she ensure that her finished products are fairly traded with her suppliers in developing countries but she also offers training and work experience to local people who may not otherwise receive the opportunity to earn their own wage
